ONLINE SAFETY
At Smithy Bridge primary School, we are committed to teaching children how to use the internet safely and responsibly. In today's digital world, online safety is just as important as staying safe in the real world.
We teach children about:
- Using the internet in a safe and respectful way
- Understanding what personal information is and why it must be protected
- Recognising things that make them feel uncomfortable online
- Knowing what to do and who to talk to if something goes wrong
WHAT WE TEACH
Online Safety is part of our Computing and PSHE curriculum across all year groups. Some key themes include:
- Early Years: Asking a grown-up for help, understanding personal information, and what to do when something pops up on a screen
- Key Stage 1: Keeping information private, being kind online, and telling a trusted adult when unsure
- Key Stage 2: Online reputation, cyberbullying, digital footprints, and evaluating online content
SAFER INTERNET DAY
Each year, we take part in Safer Internet Day, a national event that promotes safe and positive use of technology. It's a great opportunity to involve families and reflect on how we can all work together for a safer online world.
