Mrs Clark and Mrs Fiddler would like to welcome you to 6C.  Year six is an amazing year and we have so many exciting things to look forward to.  We will be studying the Victorians and are even planning to visit the fabulous Victorian street at Salford University Museum.  We will also be dipping in to the world of Shakespeare and have the Young Shakespeare Company visiting us to bring the experience to life.

In the Autumn term we will also be participating in the Lyons international peace poster competition.  The standard of this competition is very high and this year’s theme is: peace in service.  Our other topics are: Evolution and Inheritance and Electricity in Science; football and netball in Games; Me and My Relationships in PSHE and we will be practising our sewing skills in DT.

We have outdoor games every Tuesday and Wednesday. Spellings will be given out on a Friday and tested the following Friday.  Homework will be given out on a Thursday and due in on the following Tuesday.

The children will bring home their planner, these need to be brought into school every day.  In their planners, the children record their daily reading and their spellings.  Parents will need to sign planners each week and we expect children to read for twenty minutes every evening.

We started off our history topic on the Mayans with a visit from 'Big Nose', a Mayan warrior.  During the day, we learnt to count to 10 and discovered more about their civilization, beliefs and practices. We had fun learning about and re-enacting Mayan rituals and re-told the creation story.

In computing we have been learning about e-safety.  The children worked in pairs to research various apps and websites and produced and presented a PowerPoint during internet safety week.
